Deux bandes horizontales flottent au-dessus d'un fond atténué. *Viewpoint II*, 1979, laisse l'ocre et le cobalt se fondre sans un seul contour net.
Frankenthaler versait de l'acrylique diluée directement sur une toile non apprêtée, de sorte que les couleurs se déposent comme de l'aquarelle. La bande supérieure est un ocre décoloré par le soleil, la bande inférieure un cobalt profond qui s'accumule en bas. Une légère tache verticale près de la marge droite suggère un arbre lointain ou une trace de fusain.
