Alexej von Jawlensky
Alexej von Jawlensky was a Russian Expressionist painter known for his intensely coloured portraits and meditative Heads series, reducing the human face to abstracted spiritual essence. A key figure of the Munich avant-garde, he co-founded the Blue Four group.
