Enrico Castellani was an Italian artist celebrated for his Superficie works - monochromatic canvases whose surfaces are rhythmically raised by nails underneath, creating subtle, ever-changing patterns of light and shadow. A co-founder of the Azimuth group, his minimal, meditative works influenced generations of artists.
