About this work

The Kalverstraat Celebrating the Birth of Princess Juliana of the Netherlands

A bustling street scene unfolds in vivid color and motion. The Kalverstraat captures a moment of collective joy, as crowds gather to celebrate a royal birth in Amsterdam. The painting is alive with the energy of the city, each figure contributing to the dynamic tapestry of urban life. Israels work is a symphony of light and movement, with swift, confident brushstrokes that convey the fleeting nature of the scene. The palette is rich with the hues of early 20th-century fashion, the cobblestones underfoot, and the architectural backdrop of the city. The artist skill in rendering the play of light on various surfaces brings a sense of immediacy to the scene. This art print brings a piece of historical celebration into modern living spaces, fitting seamlessly into a study or a lively dining area.

Information

Frequently asked

Yes. This is a stretched canvas, not a rolled or loose print: the image is printed on a cotton-polyester canvas (300 to 350 gsm) and wrapped over FSC-certified wood stretcher bars, 4 cm deep. A hanging kit is included in the box, so no frame, glazing or assembly is needed. Hardware supplied can vary slightly by country depending on which of our ateliers produces your piece.
The canvas is a cotton-polyester blend, 300 to 350 gsm (350 to 400 microns), printed with archival pigment inks and stretched over responsibly sourced, FSC-certified wood stretcher bars. This edition is the 4 cm Thick profile, which gives the piece real presence on the wall and lets it hang cleanly without a frame. The texture of the weave is part of the finish and is visible up close. To clean it, dust gently with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid water, solvents and direct sunlight for long periods. Every canvas is printed and shipped on demand, so there is no minimum order and nothing sits in a warehouse.
As a guide: 40×50 cm suits a desk or small wall, 50×70 cm sits well above a sofa or bed, and 70×100 cm anchors a room as a focal piece. If you'd like advice for your space, send us your dimensions and we'll recommend a size.
For your country, this piece is estimated at 4 to 7 business days from the moment you order, on our free tracked Economy service. Express is offered at checkout where available. Every piece is printed at the atelier closest to you, which is why the timing differs by format. Full country-by-country ranges are on our estimated delivery times page.
If your piece arrives damaged, defective, or isn't what you ordered, let us know within 30 days of delivery and we'll send a free replacement or refund — no need to send anything back first in most cases. See our refund policy for the full process.
