Mao — Fine Art

Mao by Al Held shows large flat shapes laid across the sheet. The paint sits in even layers with hard edges. Bold colour blocks sit in even layers.

The mark here is the edge between two colours, where one shape stops and the next begins. The frame finish can follow the room. A light frame sits on a dark wall, or a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. The fine art print keeps the painted surface flat and even.

You see the shapes on the wall before you see the paper. It works well on a plain wall in a living room. From the doorway the colours hold their own. Up close the hard edges stay clean and the paint does not show brush texture.
