A tangle of black scaffolding floats against a pale ground. Morre Xxii is the name Al Held gave this drawing of intersecting planes and voids.
Thin lines crisscross at sharp angles, some thickening into opaque bars that cast faint shadows. The negative space between them reads as shallow boxes or open doorways, each frame tilted just enough to refuse perspective. Charcoal smudges soften the edges where planes meet, as if the structure is still settling.
