About this work

Red Passage

The title Red Passage points to a band of warm red moving across the sheet. Alice Baber often laid colour in broad horizontal strokes over a lighter field.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. Up close you notice the paint sits in even layers. From across the room the red shape reads as a single quiet passage.

On a pale wall a dark frame lets the red hold its own. Set the print near eye level where daylight falls on it. You see the colour first, then the soft edges of each stroke.
