Carr S 1967 — Fine Art

Carr S 1967 shows a field of rough marks and faded earth tones on a plain ground. Antoni Tapies worked in mixed materials and thick surfaces, stacking sand, paint and pencil lines over each other.

The fine art print keeps those rough passages readable on matte paper, so the pale grays stay flat and the pencil lines do not shine under a lamp. A dark frame on a pale wall lets the lighter marks stand out without drawing attention to the frame itself.

It fits on the wall beside a desk in a study, where you sit close and notice the small scratches between the heavier patches. From the doorway the big shapes settle into the room without pulling the eye away from the work on the table.
