Uriel
A field of ochre meets a single white stripe. Uriel, named for the archangel, holds the space between edge and center without apology.
The stripe is not quite vertical. It leans a degree or two, as if resisting the pull of the frame. Left and right margins are uneven, forcing the eye to measure distance rather than rest. The ochre is warm, almost tactile, like sun-baked clay.
Hang it where light shifts—above a console in the hallway, or opposite a window in the living room. The stripe will catch the morning slant and throw it back differently each day.
