About this work
Dune forms rise in pale bands over a warm field in Provincetown Dunes - 1914. The marks are thin strokes laid side by side, with the paint gathered at the ends. You can follow the slope of the sand from one edge to the other.
The fine art print uses matte paper so the pale tones stay soft and the thin strokes do not glare under room light. A light frame sits against a dark wall or a wood finish beside wooden furniture, and the piece hangs where the light falls across the slope of the dunes.
On a hallway wall, you notice the pale bands first, then the small changes in the strokes as you pass by. The picture stays quiet there, with the thin marks reading clearly against the warm ground.
