Divertimento 1995 1 — Fine Art

Divertimento 1995 1 holds a pale ground broken by soft rectangular forms. The colour sits low on the surface and the edges blur into each other.

From across the room the marks read as quiet blocks, and near the picture you see the thin shift between one tone and the next. Esteban Vicente worked in colour field painting and built his surfaces from layered paint.

The fine art piece hangs on a pale wall at shoulder height, where side light keeps the soft edges visible without glare. The frame finish can follow the room. It fits a bedroom wall near a bed, where the low tones stay calm at night and the rectangular shapes read as steady blocks from the pillow.
