65-S-10 - 1965 shows a painted field with a soft band of tone running across it. The eye lands on that band first, then moves through the quieter parts around it. Martin Barre built much of his work from broad colour areas and simple hand marks.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The white frame gives the sheet a clean edge on the wall. That edge keeps the picture contained and lets the painted field sit without competing.

On a dining room wall beside a pale table, the band reads as a calm shape from the doorway. The painted field stays loose from the chair.
