Mangúe Bangúe

Mangúe Bangúe - Neo-Concretism by Helio Oiticica sets broad colour blocks against a plain ground. The shapes sit apart from each other, and each block keeps one steady hue.

The lighter tones sit next to the darker ones so the edges stay clear. A fine art print set in a frame with a back panel carries the colours without flattening them.

The matte surface lets the solid colour blocks read as flat shapes. It works well on a hallway wall beside a shoe rack. From that spot the blocks read as wide colour areas, and the separations between them stay sharp.
