Mantis — Fine Art

Mantis shows a thin insect form set against a washed field of colour. The mark runs across the sheet with open paper left around it. Sam Francis often built his work from broad paint bands and generous empty space.

This fine art print sits on a matte surface, so the colour stays flat and does not reflect under a lamp. A light frame on a dark wall or a dark frame on a pale wall lets the insect shape stand out.

Hang it on a study room wall at eye level, a little off centre. From across the room the thin mark reads clear, and up close you see the paint run into the open paper.
