Untitled — Fine Art

Untitled keeps its title plain, and the picture matches that plainness with blocks of colour pressed against each other. Yellow and red sit near a cool blue that sits near a soft grey ground. The tones do not blend at the edges. Hans Hofmann worked with this push and pull method in his abstract expressionist period.

This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel behind the paper. The frame gives the sheet a firm border, and the back panel keeps the print flat when it rests on a wall.

In a kitchen with a narrow strip of wall above a cooking sink, the yellow block catches the warm bulb light at night while the blue stays cool on the opposite side.
