Untitled I — Fine Art

Untitled I - 2000 shows broad painted areas that meet along simple edges on a plain sheet. The flat paint shapes sit with little overlap, and the tones stay near each other. Gunther Forg built these fields from wide sweeps of colour rather than detailed drawing.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The white frame gives the picture a clean border on the wall. That thin white line separates the painted field from the room around it, and the surface stays matte so the paint tones do not shine back.

It looks settled on a hallway wall where the light falls even from the side. From the landing you notice the broad painted bands first, and nearer you see the soft transitions between them.
