Black Popcorn — Fine Art

Black Popcorn - 1969 by Gene Davis uses thick horizontal bands of black and gray that run across the sheet. The bands step through different tones of dark paint, so each stripe reads as its own flat shape. The title points to those dark masses built up in rows.

This fine art print keeps the painted bands flat on matte paper. The white frame sits around the picture and gives the black blocks a clean border so the dark tones do not lose their edges on the wall.
