A single poppy, petals splayed wide. This is O’Keeffe’s Red Poppy, where scale tips toward the monumental.
The bloom fills the frame, its crimson folds deepening to burgundy at the heart. Thin veins trace each petal, catching light like wet silk. Shadows pool in the creases, turning red to almost black. Behind it, a pale wash of ochre holds the flower in place, no stem, no leaves—just this moment of unfurling.
