About this work
Waratah - 1928 shows a single red flower against a plain ground. The petals sit in a soft cluster, with the stem and leaves drawn in darker tones.
You see the flower shape first, then the small paint marks around the edges. Grace Cossington Smith worked in oils and handled the brush with a light touch. The fine art print keeps those painted edges clear.
A white frame gives the picture a clean edge on the wall. The white frame holds the red petals without pulling the eye away. On a hallway wall near the stairs, the bloom reads from the landing, and the darker stem line stays steady.
