Reflections V — Fine Art

Reflections V - 1995 holds a pale sheet with thin bands of colour that drift from one side to the other. The painted bands stay open and even.

This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. Helen Frankenthaler worked with poured paint and soaked washes in her practice. You see the broad shapes first from the far end of the room, then the thin edges when you step nearer.

A white frame gives the sheet a clean edge on the wall. The white edge keeps the pale tones from fading into the wall. It works over the corner desk in a study, where the paper catches the morning light and the thin bands stay quiet.
