About this work
View From Room 603 Watergate Washington D C 1974 shows a window opening over a city rooftop line. A balcony, a railing, and a strip of street sit below a pale sky.
The view keeps to the middle of the paper. Ivan Albright worked in a slow realist style, building surfaces with careful paint and steady drawing. The fine art version hangs on a wall at shoulder height, where the room light falls across the lower half of the picture.
A light frame on a dark wall or a dark frame on a pale wall lets the painted ground stay even. The fine art print sits on the wall above a desk in a study. From the chair you read the edge of the railing and the flat window glass, and the city line sits quiet behind it.
