Squares or Rectangles Arranged According to the Laws of Chance

Squares or Rectangles Arranged According to the Laws of Chance by Jean Arp shows irregular shapes set on a quiet ground. The forms drift without a straight grid, as if chance placed each one.

The fine art piece comes ready to hang with a frame that can follow the room. A light frame sits on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. The matte surface keeps the soft tones even under a lamp.

On a hall wall near the coat hooks, the shapes read from the front door before the details do. Stand a little farther back and the loose arrangement feels calm. Step near and the edges of each shape become clear.
