Diptych

Diptych - 1956 1 by Lolo Soldevilla sets two panels beside each other. Each panel holds a flat colour field with a sharp edge where the paint stops. The eye moves from one colour block to the next without pause. The space between the panels stays open.

The frame finish can follow the room around this fine art work. A light frame on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture all sit without calling attention away from the colour blocks.

On a bedroom wall the two panels read as a simple colour study during the day. You notice the hard edge of each block before the room dims.
