Kings Gate

Kings Gate - 1978 sets painted colour bands across the sheet in one direction. The stripes step through a steady run of tones. Each band meets the next with a hard edge. Gene Davis built these compositions from repeated horizontal stripes.

This fine art print sits in a frame with a back panel. The matte surface keeps the colour bands soft and removes shine under a lamp. It arrives assembled.

On a bedroom wall near the bed, the rows of colour run parallel to the floor. From the doorway the stripes read as a calm band of tone. The hard edges hold their shape at that distance.
