Mary, Mary - 1987 opens with a pale band at the top that thins toward the edge. Below it a cooler colour settles into the sheet and leaves the lower field open. The eye moves across the open ground before it reaches the painted area.

The fine art print keeps the soaked edges and the thin washes the way Helen Frankenthaler left them. A light frame sits on a dark wall, or a wood frame meets a wooden chair. The matte surface holds the pale tones without a shine under a lamp.

In the kitchen, the print hangs on the back wall above the table. From the doorway you see the open lower field first, then the pale top band. The wash stays quiet at that height and gives the room a calm line.
