Noon — Fine Art

Noon by Lee Krasner uses broad strokes of white and grey paint that stay in separate bands across the sheet. The paint does not blend, so each band keeps its own tone against the pale ground.

You see the brush drag in the edges of each stroke. A fine art print set in a frame with a back panel gives this colour and tone a steady surface.

The matte paper holds the soft greys without a shine under a lamp. It hangs well above a breakfast table where morning light falls on the white bands and the greyer bands read darker.
