The Other Side of the Moon

Broad colour fields spread across the sheet in The Other Side of the Moon - 1995. The paint soaks into the paper and leaves soft edges where one wash meets another. Helen Frankenthaler worked with thin layers of colour, letting the material move through the sheet rather than sitting on top.

This fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back. The hanger goes straight onto a nail or screw, so the sheet goes up on the wall without a frame to buy.

On a hallway wall with a single bulb, the pale washes hold their tone at a distance. You notice the change from one colour band to the next where the paint thins out. The sheet feels open and quiet on the plaster.
