About this work
Untitled - 1964 shows a plain field with a few dark marks placed in a loose arrangement. The marks read as notes from a drafting tool rather than a hand drawing. From the far end of a room the shapes hold together as one quiet block.
The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The white frame gives the image a clear edge on the wall. The clean border keeps the thin marks from fading into the pale ground. You get a steady line around the sheet, which helps the drawing sit flat against the plaster.
On a study wall near the desk lamp the marks catch the light at a low angle. The wood shelf below holds a notebook and a ruler. From that spot you notice the uneven spacing and the quiet room around it.
