Sprayed colour runs across a pale sheet in Untitled - 1982. The wash leaves open areas where the sheet shows through. Helen Frankenthaler worked with thin stains that soak into the surface. Broad colour blocks sit near the bottom while the upper field stays lighter. The marks stop short of the edges.

The fine art print uses a matte finish so the washes keep their flat tone. The frame finish can follow the room. A light frame suits a dark wall. A dark frame works on a pale wall. A wood frame fits beside wooden furniture.

It hangs on a study wall near a desk lamp. From the chair you notice the broad stain first. Up close you see the thinner paint line along the bottom. The light from the lamp stays even on the sheet.
