About this work
Untitled From The Brushwork Series - 1999 shows horizontal marks laid across the field. The brushwork of Patrick Heron moves in broad sweeps, with faster strokes beside slower ones. You can see where the hand pressed harder and where it lifted. The paint sits in uneven bands rather than a straight line.
The fine art print keeps the texture of those strokes on a matte surface. Light hits the marks without a shine, so the speed of each swipe stays visible. A dark frame on a pale wall lets the brushwork read first, before the frame.
It fits a narrow wall in a study, hung a little above the desk. From the chair you see the rhythm of the marks, and the slow strokes hold the eye while the fast ones move past.
