Couple in Bed — Fine Art

A couple lies together under heavy shapes that press into the picture. Couple in Bed shows two figures with blunt forms and soft edges. Philip Guston built the scene with slow brushwork and thick paint. The marks look worked over, as if the painter stayed with each shape.

This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The back panel keeps the front flat and helps the print sit steady on a wall. Under a lamp the surface stays dull, so the dark shapes do not shine.

It fits a quiet bedroom wall where the morning light is low. From the foot of the bed you see the heavy forms, and the small shifts in tone come out.
