Painter S Forms No 2 1978 by Philip Guston uses stacked forms that read like simple bodies or objects. The shapes carry the rough painted feel of his later work, built from blunt strokes on a painted ground.

The fine art frame sits in white, wood, dark wood or black, and the edge around the image is clear and even. That border keeps the forms from losing their shape on the wall.

It goes above a desk in a study, where the rough painted blocks catch the desk lamp at night. You notice the blunt edges more than the colours.
