About this work
Kókkora - 1987 opens on a busy field of lines and colour sweeps. The marks cross the surface in soft bands and suggest a loose call to Italy. Piero Dorazio worked with thin paint layers and quick strokes that leave the ground showing through. The method stays open and the picture never locks into one solid shape.
The fine art print sits in a white frame. The white edge keeps the colour sweeps from having a hard stop on the wall. For this image the frame finishes feel calm, and the colours read without a strong border cutting through them.
Over a kitchen table, the lines drift past the daily bowls. From the step into the room the colour bands stay even and the pencil like strokes stay thin. Near the sink the white frame edge catches the morning light.
