About this work
Wait - Untitled XIX - 1968 by Piero Dorazio is an abstract painting built from running bands of colour. Warm reds and yellows pass over cooler blues and greens. The paint sits in broad sweeps, so each colour edge stays open. The fine art print keeps those colour bands clear.
The frame comes in white, wood, dark wood or black. A white frame lets the light bands stay bright against the wall. A black frame puts a firm line around the colour sweeps. The frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall.
It hangs well above a bed in a hallway nook, where morning light hits the upper bands first. From the doorway the colour bands read as a single sweep, while the paint edges remain soft.
