M-39 — Fine Art

The soft bands in M-39 - 1969 spread across the paper and thin out toward the edges. Wojciech Fangor handled this kind of colour field with painted sweeps rather than sharp edges.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The eye reads the whole field first, then notices the way one band bends under the next. The paper is matte, so the greys stay flat and the image does not shine under a lamp.

A metal hanger is fitted to the back and the print goes straight onto a nail or screw, no separate frame to buy. It sits well on a kitchen wall above the counter, where the painted bands line up with the edge of the tiles.
