Rene Portocarrero

Rene Portocarrero was a Cuban painter celebrated for his exuberant, richly coloured works of figures, heads, and carnivals that synthesise Afro-Cuban religion, Baroque tradition, and early 20th-century European modernism into a uniquely tropical visual language. He is one of the most beloved painters in Cuban cultural history.
