Abstract Picture 1

Abstract Picture 1 by Gerhard Richter holds wide bands of colour that slide across the sheet. The eye moves from one band to the next, and the middle band carries the most weight. Empty space around the edges keeps the shapes calm.

The fine art frame is black, so the dark edge lines up with the deep band and holds the picture steady on the wall. The frame gives the picture a clear border and stops the colours from running off the edge.

Hang it in a bedroom on the wall beside the bed. From the pillow you see the soft bands and the quiet gap at the top. The room looks still, and the picture does not ask for attention.

As a guide: 40×50 cm suits a desk or small wall, 50×70 cm sits well above a sofa or bed, and 70×100 cm anchors a room as a focal piece. If you'd like advice for your space, send us your dimensions and we'll recommend a size.

For your country, this piece is estimated at 5 to 8 business days from the moment you order, including production, with free tracked delivery. Every piece is made to order by the print partner closest to you; framed pieces take a little longer because each one is framed and checked before dispatch. These are estimates, and there is no express option. Full country-by-country ranges are on our estimated delivery times page, and you can see exactly how your piece is packed.

If your piece arrives damaged, defective, or isn't what you ordered, email us within 7 days of delivery with photos and your order number, and keep all packaging. We will send a free replacement at no cost to you. See our refund policy for the full process.
