Afghanistan 1985

Afghanistan 1985 shows a lettering grid packed with colour across its surface. Alighiero Boetti built this kind of work by hand, one letter at a time. The composition holds a strong grid of text in bright tones.

The fine art frame gives the piece a clean edge on the wall. A white finish keeps the frame quiet so the lettering stays the focus. You see the grid first and the frame second.

In a kitchen, the bright letters catch the morning light on a tiled wall. From the table you read rows of text, and the white frame sits flat against the wall.
