Ale Cans Ulae 152 shows stacked metal cans painted in muted reds and yellows. The surface uses a smooth wax paint technique that Jasper Johns developed. Each can keeps a plain outline against a pale ground.

The print sits on fine art paper with a matte finish, so the paint colour stays soft without a shine. A light frame on a dark wall lets the red tones stand out on the wall.

In a hallway beside a coat rack, the stacked cans read as a simple row of objects. From the landing you see the plain shape, and the paint marks stay quiet near the cans.
