About this work
Alphard by Morris Louis (1961)
Three vertical veils of diluted acrylic hang side by side. Alphard, Morris Louiss 1961 pour, lets color do the talking.
Raw umber, ochre, and a blush of rose bleed into each other without brushstrokes. The edges fray where pigment met raw canvas, leaving faint halos. Gravity pulled the paint downward, yet the bands feel suspended, as if lit from behind.
Lean it against the wall above a low credenza, where the quiet colors can breathe without competing light.
