About this work
Architectural Contortion of El Escorial shows a building shape pulled into a long curve. Salvador Dali painted it in his usual way, with sharp edges and a bright flat ground. The picture keeps the lines clear and the space open.
The fine art print sits behind a framed edge that gives the picture a firm line on the wall. Pick white, wood, dark wood or black to match the room. A white frame keeps the curve soft against a light wall. A dark wood frame makes the line read harder.
It hangs in a hallway with a low bulb overhead. From the landing you see the curve first. When you stand closer you notice the sharp corners where the line bends.
