About this work
Belt 1935 breaks into thin black shapes that move across the sheet like a cut strip. The lines stop and start, with open gaps between each piece.
The fine art print comes ready to hang. From the doorway the shapes read as a calm band. Closer up you notice the empty ground around each mark. Alexander Calder worked with wire and suspended forms, and this paper piece carries that same clear movement.
The white frame gives the paper a clean edge on the wall. It holds the thin lines without crowding them, so the black strokes stay loose against the border. The work fits above a bookshelf in a study, where you see the long strip from a few paces away and catch the small gaps between the marks when you stand near.
