Black Flakes 2006 — Fine Art

Black Flakes 2006 shows a dark ground with small broken marks spread across it. The eye finds the lighter spots first, then rests on the solid black areas. A sober mood sits in the rough edges and the empty spaces between them.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The frame finishes in white, wood, dark wood or black and gives the picture a clear edge. Black wood sets the dark marks apart without pulling focus. White keeps the background open. You get a clear line where the image ends.

In a bedroom with one wall painted warm white, the picture sits at the foot of the bed. From the doorway you see the dark ground as a single block. Up close you notice the small marks and dry texture.
