Black Place I — Fine Art

Black Place I opens on narrow bands of dark brown and grey running across a pale ground. The bands sit close together and the colour shifts from one strip to the next without a hard line.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. Georgia OKeeffe painted many landscapes through this layered band approach. The white frame keeps the picture clear on the wall and the thin edge sets the dark bands off from the room around it.

You notice the soft tone changes first, then the clean line of the frame. It works on a kitchen wall above a counter, where the pale ground picks up the light from the window and the dark bands read as quiet marks across the surface.
