About this work
Blauer Berg 1910 shows a blue hill shape rising on a soft ground with darker tones near the base. The paint sits in broad strokes with small patches of lighter blue on the slope.
You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The artist Alexej von Jawlensky worked in the abstract painting movement and built this kind of landscape from simplified colour fields. The white frame gives the sheet a clean border and the pale wood edge keeps the blue tones clear on the wall.
The picture reads best when you stand a short way back in the dining room. From the chair you see the hill shape first and then the small brush touches on the slope.
