Bottle and Glass 1 — Fine Art

Bottle and Glass 1 shows a bottle and a drinking glass set against a flat ground. The shapes are built from clear planes, with a muted grey tone near a warmer brown. Juan Gris breaks the objects into angled sections, so the bottle keeps a hard outline and the glass reads as a thin transparent shape.

The fine art frame finishes match the room, so a light frame on a dark wall lets the grey planes stay clear and a dark frame on a pale wall keeps the outline sharp. The matte paper holds the muted tones without shine, which keeps the bottle edge readable under room light.

It hangs on a kitchen wall at shoulder height, and from the table you see the bottle shape first and the glass outline second.
