About this work
Bread in Bag 1961 by Roy Lichtenstein shows a loaf of bread wrapped in a paper bag, drawn with bold outlines and flat colour blocks. The picture reads clearly from across a hall and the flat tones stay even. Lichtenstein was part of pop art and often used comic style marks and strong outlines.
This fine art piece comes with a frame in white, wood, dark wood or black. A black frame edge sits against the flat tones without splitting them. The frame gives the sheet a clean line on the wall.
On a kitchen wall above a tin shelf the wrapped loaf sits simple and clear. From the table you notice the bold outline first, then the small colour blocks inside the bag. The black frame edge holds the picture in place.
