About this work
A bold single stroke cuts across the sheet in Brushstroke 1996. The mark is thick and curved, painted in a bright red against a plain white ground. The shape reads like a quick gesture turned into a solid form. Roy Lichtenstein often worked from painted gestures and turned them into hard edges.
This is a fine art print set in a frame, with a back panel. The framed surface keeps the red mark flat and even, so the stroke stays clear without glare. You get a finished piece that hangs straight on the wall.
On a hallway wall near the front door, the single curve leads the eye along the passage. The thick red line reads clearly from the step and the white ground stays clean under the ceiling light.
