About this work
By The Whirlpool 1 by Isaac Levitan (1891)
A turbulent whirlpool dominates the scene in Isaac Levitan's By The Whirlpool 1. The artwork draws the eye into its swirling depths, a dance of water and light that seems to pulse with energy.
The composition is a masterclass in movement and color. Deep blues and frothy whites capture the water's relentless motion, while the surrounding landscape provides a stark contrast with its muted greens and browns. The mood is one of raw power, a testament to nature's unyielding force.
This poster brings drama to a quiet study or a dimly lit hallway, where the interplay of light and shadow can be fully appreciated.
