About this work
Cedar Hill - 1983 shows a loose field of colour pushed across the sheet. The eye enters near the middle where the paint thins out. Some areas sit darker and heavier, others stay open and pale. Helen Frankenthaler worked with thin washes that soak into the paper instead of sitting on top.
This fine art print comes in a frame with a back panel. The matte surface keeps the soft edges of the colour washes from turning sharp under bright light. You can see the uneven spread of paint without glare getting in the way.
It fits over a desk where the morning light lands on one side. From there the lighter parts of the wash read first, and the darker band near the bottom stays settled. The framed surface feels steady on the wall.
